Interview w/ Melodiesinfonie

GERGAZ: The EP was finished within one weekend. Is that right?

Yes I made the Ep in two days. I was in a really crazy mood, very creative time.

GERGAZ: It was quite brave idea to finish an EP in such short time. Was that even enough time to listen through the EP?

Oh yes, I listened to it a lot while mixing and stuff like that.

GERGAZ: Weren’t you worried that some people might say that it sounds like it was made within 2 days?

Hmm, it’s not important when I made the Ep or how long it took, it’s more about you do like it or you don’t. If I make beats in a short time I give them as much love and power as to those I was working on for ages.

GERGAZ: In Your Mood has a great feedback. It’s nice and mellow with almost an autumn feel in it in my opinion. Does it reflect anything or is it simply music that you do?

It’s, I want to say, a collecion of music I like. Different styles. You could hear the old school flavour in some beats, the wonky synth things in other tracks, you know, I want to be open-minded and do different things.

GERGAZ: There is not much that one can find about you on the internet, speaking about Melodiesinfonie of course. Would you mind sharing few info about your self with us? Do you have any musical background? Did you or do you study music? What instruments do you play or what music technology are you using when producing apart from sampling ?

I don’t study music or anything like that. I work in a nursery as a child educator and make a pre-study in Social education. I want to study Social education, Music is my passion my hobby, and it will be that. My musical background is, I grew up with Jazz, cause my Daddy is a big big jazz lover and he got more than 2000 jazz lp’s.

I used to hear Jazz everyday, but I didn’t like it, haha, because I was too young. But 4 years ago, I began to search music and came in touch with jazz and so I began to dig jazz lp’s in my daddy’s jazz collection. I began to listen music 5 hours everyday, and opened my mind for different music style. I listen to Soul, Jazz Funk, Old School, Wonky, Electronica things, World music, old rock, so I Love music.Last year in February, that was back in 2011 I bought a Sp 404 Sx, because I wanted to produce music. I saw all these guys like Dibiase, Samiyam, workin with it.
So I began producing with the Sp and then I bought my first Synth, my Analog Yamaha Synth, (my baby). So on, at the moment, I got 4 Synth’s, a Sp and alot of Percussio instruments, and I record and Mix with Cubse.

I forgot I began to play the drums when I was 13 years old. I was also taking piano lessons for one year and I love to play live percussions. Sometimes I sing, or I try, haha.
In regards to sampling I began with it when I bought my Sp and when I started to buy my own records. So now I got 600 records and buy and buy and buy, need more space!!

| Jazzo & Melodiesinfonie

GERGAZ: I am glad to hear that you buy records. Most of the producers would like to get their work released on vinyl, but not that many of them play records when they DJ for various reasons (too heavy to carry, etc.). Do you DJ? If so do you use vinyl?

No no I don’t DJ. Just music lover. This week I bought 66 records – jazz funk n psychedelic, ah and the new jeremiah jae album. I really buy too many records. When I listen to music I prefer to listen vinyl, the other things, maybe Ipod when I go to work but at home just vinyl.

GERGAZ: Cool. What are you working on now? Should we expect new EP soon or what are your plans?

Phew, I work on 4 albums at the moment for various labels.

GERGAZ: What about Jazzo & Melodiesinfonie? How would you say the this project differs from Melodiesinfonie? Is it simply collaboration or what is behind this project?

Jazzo & melodiesinfonie is my passion. I love to work with Jazzo cause he is like my brother we are really good friends and yeah, he’s dope! With Jazzo together, it sounds differet to what I do solo, so, I work on the new album with him. Love you jazzo, yeah.
